..And so it begins

Well, I'm here. After 4 long (well not all of them were long..) flights, 3 layovers and a bunch of interesting characters on airplanes. Too bad I slept through meeting most of them. Typical.
We arrived in Madrid around 2:30, after which I got my bags and searched for the Saint Louis University representatives. Turns out, I landed in the wrong terminal. I ventured over to terminal 4, the international terminal, with another girl from Illinois who goes to Saint Louis (most of these kids go to SLU). We then met the representatives who helped us get on taxis to our locations. Mine was easy to find, and as Maite, la mama, told me, we're about 7 minutes from campus. Perfect. After speaking with Maite about the house, my room, my family and my trip, I finally was able to begin unpacking. That was around 4pm, and I still haven't finished. It's now 8. Maybe that has to do with the 2 hour nap I unintentionally took.

I have the single room in the house, while 2 other girls from SLU are living in the double room. We're right next door to each other. My room's fairly small, but I do have a double bed, so that's sweet.

Well I should probably finish unpacking - summer got me good at this procrastination thing.

  1. Annie -Thank you for including us in your blog. I am so proud of you - I remember clearly how nervous I was when I traveled to Europe alone at age 22. But it turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime, and I am confident that you will also look back happily on your semester. Sure wish we could visit, you never know. Keep you posted on that hope!
Take care of yourself, but mostly, enjoy!

  2. Hi Annie,

Just remember- when you are young, jet lag is just a concept! Do you love Madrid (it was Dickie's favorite city when we visited). I will look up the name of a wonderful restaurant/flamenco club we visited. I look forward to hearing about your classes!
