Times Like These, Jack Johnson

So after another fairly boring week (classes and that's pretty much it. I swear, school takes over my life), I was staying in Madrid and expecting an exciting weekend. Well, that certainly didn't turn out as I expected it to. Thursday, after my classes, trying to start my weekend out right, I head to the gym. I use the stationary bike for about 45 minutes, lift some weights, do all that gym-y stuff and feel proud of the fact that my knee's been holding up really well. Unfortunately, it turns out, punching bags fight back. My parents brought me my boxing gloves, an addition to my wardrobe I was a little too excited about. So I've been using them almost everyday. This day, however, this one day, I kick the bag, which was not too far away, but my knee hyperextends anyway. And with that hyperextension, I hear a few pops that probably should not be there.

Subsequently, I spent most of Friday in the ER. I'm awaiting an MRI on Thursday to determine what happened and what we'll need to do.

So, that put off a lot of plans I had for the weekend. I did go back to the Reina Sofia with my friend David on Saturday and to the Rastro (a huge, open air flea market) on Sunday. Both of which were a lot of fun, but a little difficult with the lack of mobility.

As of right now (since I did book the ticket before the injury) Malaga is still in the plan. I'll be bracing my knee for most of the time from now on (especially while working out), and I'll keep you updated on the injury status. I also found a "simpler" route on the Caminito, so if the knee does happen to get really mad at me, I can always take a little bit on the simple area. But I'm in Spain right now, how can I give up an opportunity to do something as amazing as that. It's like living in Yellowstone and not attempting Electric Peak!
